Sermon Question: Is it wrong to drink as long as I don't get drunk?

by oneadmin    |   Monday, May 25, 2009 at 12:39:00 AM

There is nothing wrong with Christians consuming alcohol, but getting drunk is definitely a sin (Ephesians 5:18). There are some additional things to consider, the weaker brother (Romans 14). It's probably not a good decision to drink around someone who struggles with alcoholism. For this reason it is good wisdom to make sure you are not offending anyone when drinking in a group setting. This is particularly important when you are with other Christians. If you are having dinner with someone it's a good decision to ask them if it is okay for you to order a drink. If they have a problem with it, it's not a good idea to press the issue any further.

So go ahead and have a drink, but don't forget who you are with.

Spiritual Discipline: Prayer

by adminguy    |   Monday, May 04, 2009 at 12:59:00 AM

Each month, we set aside the first full week of the month to give up something physical to gain something spiritual. Our desire at One is that each person draw closer to Christ and pursue a more intimate and personal relationship with our Savior.

May 3-8, we invite you join us in practicing the discipline of prayer. We are asking each person to pray at least three times a day, during the hours of 7am, noon and 7pm. During your prayer time, we would like you to focus on praying for the One leadership, our community, yourself and the nation.

Below, we have included a link to the prayer calendar to guide you through this week of prayer.

Questions about the prayer discipline, contact us at 469-767-4881 or info@onechurchhome.org.
